1960 (Part 3)

A letter by Mr. JJ Esterhuysen, chair of the Village Management Board, asks permission to form an advisory council to improve relations between the white and coloured communities. It would consist of the white mission church minister and 3 coloured councillors.

A handwritten reply states that permission is not needed as the council is not official and won’t have any power.
